PROJECT 1: TEXTURED PENDANTS

In the first project you'll make three different variations of a textured pendant which can also be made into earrings. You'll learn how to roll, texture and cut out shapes, how to layer clay pieces together and how to roll texture directly into clay.

PROJECT 2: ADDING GEMSTONES

The second project covers two ways of adding gemstones to your silver clay jewellery. You'll learn how to embed gemstones directly into clay and also how to make a gemstone setting and attach it to your piece.

PROJECT 3: LEAF MOULD PENDANT

In project three we’ll be working with moulds. I’ll show you how to make a mould from a fresh leaf, and then we’ll use it to create a beautiful silver clay pendant.

BONUS PROJECT: MAKING CHARMS

The final bonus project will teach you how to make two different types of charms. They're lovely for adding personalisation and are a great way to use up small pieces of left over clay.

DRYING & SANDING

You'll then learn how to dry your pieces, how to sand and refine them and drill holes in preparation for firing.

FIRING & POLISHING

Next, I’ll teach you how to fire your pieces which turns them into solid silver! We’ll then polish the fired pieces and add jump rings to turn them into wearable jewellery.

Hi, my name’s Maggie and I’m a jewellery designer and teacher based in the beautiful north Northumberland countryside, where I teach silversmithing and silver clay jewellery classes. I’ve loved silver clay since I first used it 18 years ago and over the last 3 years, I’ve taught over 1,000 students here in my jewellery studio. Most of them have been complete beginners so I know where you may need extra support along the way. I often hear the comment “I’d love to come to one of your classes but I live too far away” so I decided to create this online course. I’ll guide you through each stage, step by step, so whether you’re starting something new or improving your skills, this course is perfect for you. WHAT TOOLS WILL I NEED?

You can make silver clay jewellery from home with a minimum of tools and equipment. With the course, you’ll get a full Tool Guide detailing everything I use on the course. Many of the tools can be improvised from things you already have at home so you don’t have to go out and spend a fortune on specialist equipment!
